Perfectly Roasted Gluten-Free Turkey (main dish)

A simple and delicious gluten-free roasted turkey recipe perfect for any occasion.

  • 1 whole turkey (1214 lbs)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried rosemary
  • 1 lemon, quartered
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 2 cups gluten-free chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F.
  2. Remove giblets and neck from turkey. Pat dry with paper towels.
  3. Mix olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, and rosemary in a small bowl.
  4. Rub the spice mixture all over the turkey, including under the skin.
  5. Stuff the turkey cavity with lemon, onion, and garlic.
  6. Place turkey on a rack in a roasting pan. Pour broth into the pan.
  7. Roast for 3 to 3.5 hours, or until internal temperature reaches 165°F in the thickest part of the thigh.
  8. Let rest for 20 minutes before carving.

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer for accurate cooking.
  • Baste turkey with pan juices every hour.
  • Cover with foil if the skin darkens too quickly.
